Fond du Lac community solar garden is now fully operational and generating solar energy

Alliant Energy announces the 1-megawatt Fond du Lac community solar project is now operational and producing power.

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (January 24, 2022) – Alliant Energy announces the 1-megawatt Fond du Lac community solar project is now operational and producing power. Solar production tracking began January 1, 2022.

“The Fond du Lac garden is the first of what is expected to be multiple community solar locations across Iowa and Wisconsin,” said David de Leon, President of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin Utility. “As a leader in solar development, Alliant Energy is excited to offer new options that benefit our customers, strengthen the communities we serve and support our aspirational goal to attain net-zero carbon dioxide emissions from the electricity we generate by 2050.”

This is Alliant Energy’s first community solar garden to generate energy for the power grid. For subscribers paid in full, bill credits will appear on their February statements. Alliant Energy announced the Fond du Lac community solar project in December 2020 and by November 2021, it was fully subscribed

Although the Fond du Lac community solar garden is fully subscribed, residential and business electric customers can join a waitlist in the event existing subscribers leave the program or a new community solar garden is built in Wisconsin.

Customers can purchase solar blocks in the garden, to cover up to 100% of their energy use. The clean, renewable energy helps power the community, and participating customers receive a bill credit each month for supporting the project.
