This is Alliant Energy’s first community solar garden to generate energy for the power grid. For subscribers paid in full, bill credits will appear on their February statements. Alliant Energy announced the Fond du Lac community solar project in December 2020 and by November 2021, it was fully subscribed.
Although the Fond du Lac community solar garden is fully subscribed, residential and business electric customers can join a waitlist in the event existing subscribers leave the program or a new community solar garden is built in Wisconsin.
Customers can purchase solar blocks in the garden, to cover up to 100% of their energy use. The clean, renewable energy helps power the community, and participating customers receive a bill credit each month for supporting the project.
