Alliant Energy and M.J. Electric are rebuilding overhead electric lines and converting some overhead electric lines to underground on the northwest side of Cedar Rapids. This will ensure safe and reliable service to the neighborhood.
Construction began in November 2021 and underground boring has been completed. All construction is scheduled to be complete by September 2022.
Customers may experience a brief outage in order to convert their existing service drop to the new system. Alliant Energy will contact customers prior to any scheduled outage.

Underground boring is expected to be finished by September 2022.
Starting in August 2022, Alliant Energy crews will connect all underground cables and make the conversion to the underground system. During this process, you may experience a brief outage. Alliant Energy will contact you before any scheduled outage.
