Mid-Iowa Cooperative pinpoints savings

Mid-Iowa Cooperative is the largest direct shipping, farm-to-market grain procurement company in the Midwest. Formed in 1996, the farmer-owned cooperative now serves a diverse client portfolio. With more than 1,400 members, management constantly searches for ways to work efficiently and identify cost savings.

Alliant Energy Key Account Manager Amanda Accola suggested they take part in an energy audit, which is available, at no additional cost, to Alliant Energy Iowa customers.

The process was simple. An energy analyst visited all locations and presented information to the Mid-Iowa Cooperative team for consideration.

Rick Pfantz, the operations manager at Mid-Iowa Cooperative, said he and the regional leaders didn’t know what to expect from the final audit report. They were highly impressed.

“The report has become our plan. It’s black and white on what we need to do to save on energy costs, making us more proactive,” said Pfantz. “What we got from Alliant Energy was amazing, especially since audit didn’t cost us anything. It was the winning edge we were looking for.”
