Creating connection through community events

The beautiful hamlet of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, on the south end of Lake Winnebago is a special, one-of-a-kind place. To celebrate what makes the community unique, as well as to raise awareness and funds for local nonprofits, an organization called Fond du Lac Festivals hosts four special events each year, and we’re glad to be a sponsor.

All festivals are family-friendly and inclusive. In June, there’s Walleye Weekend, a summer fest with everything from music to fishing. In October, Fondy FallToberFest combines family fun like jack-o’-lanterns and caramel apples with Oktoberfest fun like polka and brats.

One might expect festivals in summer and fall, but Fond du Lac Festivals keeps the fun rolling into February with Bags Fest, a winter cornhole tournament (the game in which players throw beanbags at targets), and the Sturgeon Spectacular, a multi-day winter event with tons of activities including the Wisconsin Snow Sculpting Championship.

The festivals provide opportunities for neighbors to come together, celebrate their community – and to give back. Fond du Lac Festivals, itself a nonprofit, donates a portion of its proceeds to other area nonprofits. In 2023, its events helped raise funds for over 40 local organizations.

Alliant Energy has been a Fond du Lac Festivals sponsor for more than six years – and we enjoy being part of the fun. It’s a great way to connect with our customers and the community. We’ve supplied volunteers, supported free admission and sponsored activities like the 2023 Family Day Bike Ride at Walleye Weekend. In 2023 and 2024, we supported the popular horse-drawn carriage ride at Sturgeon Spectacular.
