Weatherization assistance
How does the program work?
If you qualify, weatherization service providers will come to your home and install measures of energy efficiency free of charge. State action agencies (see below) administer the program under the direction of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE.)
Trained crews and contractors install permanent cost-effective measures, including*:
- Insulation
- Air leak reduction
- Furnace repair/replacement (non-emergency)
- Energy audit
- Energy education
*Other weatherizing services may also be available.

You'll need to provide your Social Security number, a copy of your most recent heating and electric bill, and proof of your household's gross income for the past three months or for the past calendar year.
