Columbia Wind project

Advancing our energy future

The Columbia Wind project builds on our long‑standing presence in Columbia County, where we have operated the Columbia Energy Center for more than 50 years. Supported by strong community partnerships and existing energy infrastructure, Columbia County is well suited for a project designed to help advance a strong energy future for Wisconsin.

At Alliant Energy, our top priority is delivering safe, reliable and cost‑effective energy to the customers and communities we serve. Our balanced energy portfolio, made up of both renewable and traditional resources, focuses on reliability and energy security. The development of Columbia Wind represents an important addition to this portfolio as we continue working to meet our customers’ long‑term energy needs.

In addition to strong landowner participation and our commitment to customers, Columbia Wind is also designed to minimize land disturbance, with less than two acres required per turbine. As a result, approximately 98% of the land within the project boundary will remain undisturbed by construction.

Columbia Wind is currently under review by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC). Pending regulatory approval, construction is expected to begin in late 2027, with the project anticipated to be completed and operational by the end of 2028.
