Ideathon

Energizing ideas for nonprofits

What is an Ideathon?

It sounds like a reality TV show: Three nonprofits tell us their biggest challenges. Then a team of our employees, all with different areas of expertise, finds solutions. One day, three nonprofits and a whole bunch of new ideas.

The benefits are many:

  • Nonprofits get access to skillsets they may not have internally and an interruption-free day where their challenge is the sole focus.
  • They leave with promising ideas and prototypes to power past the problem.
  • Alliant Energy employees get practice innovating together and working with speed.

So far, we’ve done two nonprofit Ideathons, and the success stories are rolling in.

"Such a thrill!"

That's how the Badger Prairie Needs Network described their Ideathon experience.

The Badger Prairie Needs Network in Verona, Wisconsin, had a big challenge: moving new volunteers from curiosity to long-term commitment. Their existing onboarding process wasn’t working, and they were ready for some help.

The suggestions they received at our Ideathon helped them grow their volunteer conversation rate from 25% to 45%.
