Electric water heater with Aquanta smart water heater controller

Rewards: $50 enrollment reward + $25 per season you participate.

Smart Hours works with Aquanta, a smart water heater controller that connects your existing electric water heater to the program. Aquanta pre-heats your water before a peak event, then reduces the heater's energy draw during the event — so you typically notice no change in hot water availability.

To enroll your electric water heater, it must:

  • Be a standard electric tank water heater (resistance-type).
  • Have an Aquanta water heater controller.
  • Be installed at an Iowa residential address that receives electric power from Alliant Energy.
