MADISON, Wis. (June 7, 2022) – Following the news that President Biden’s administration is preventing tariffs from being imposed on the solar industry for at least the next two years, Alliant Energy shared the following statement:
“At Alliant Energy, we’re driven by our commitment to serving customers and building stronger communities. We applaud President Biden for taking this action.
“We have announced plans to build out nearly 1,500 megawatts (MW) of solar in Wisconsin and Iowa. The supply chain and tariff uncertainty had the potential to add unexpected costs to the projects. The action of President Biden’s administration on this matter provides added certainty and reinforces our plans to move forward – to the benefit of our customers and the communities we proudly serve.
“This is great news for local economies that will benefit from shared revenues once projects are operational. Local communities also benefit during construction as workers visit local establishments for lodging, gas and food. And everyone will benefit from the healthier environment.
“We look forward to delivering safe, reliable, and environmentally friendly energy to our customers by accelerating our transition to renewables, as outlined in our Clean Energy Blueprint.”
