Knowing the smell will help keep you, your home and family safe – but don’t rely on your nose alone. Other strong smells in the area, prolonged exposure and certain soil or pipe conditions can make it harder to detect a leak.
For another layer of protection, use a natural gas detector. Look for a model that also detects carbon monoxide.
