Put your community’s opportunities on the map with LOIS

As part of our LOIS (LocationOne Information System) subscription, community and economic development partners across the Alliant Energy service territory receive free access to the tool. Any organization can embed a LOIS property map on its website and access administrative tools to manage available buildings and sites.

Our goal is simple, to help communities market their assets, connect with businesses and site selectors, and support local economic growth.

What is LOIS?

LOIS is a property marketing platform that integrates directly with your website to showcase available sites and buildings through a customizable, interactive map. The platform provides the data-rich experience site selectors and corporate decision-makers expect when evaluating potential locations.

Property listings can include brochures, photos, location data, sharing tools and web visitor analytics.

Enhance your story with workforce data

LOIS now includes workforce analytics powered by Lightcast, a labor market data company. Through heat maps and customizable drive-time or distance reports, users can access employment counts and average wages by occupation and industry.

Combining workforce insights with property listings helps prospective businesses better understand local talent availability, workforce characteristics and industry strengths. This can make your community’s story stronger and more competitive.

Showcase community assets with GIS layers

Customizable GIS (geographic information system) map layers help businesses understand what surrounds a property and how it supports future investment. Available layers include:

  • Highways, railroads, airports, ports and logistics infrastructure.
  • Broadband availability.
  • Opportunity zones and workforce housing incentives.
  • Hospitals, colleges and other community amenities.
  • Water features and other location-specific assets.

Organizations can select the layers most relevant to their target industries and business prospects.

Keep your community competitive

Accurate, up-to-date property information makes it easier for businesses to evaluate your community and envision future growth opportunities. As you review your listings, consider these best practices:

  • Verify links to your economic development resources, including alliantenergy.com/economicdevelopment.
  • Update community and property descriptions with relevant keywords such as “renewable energy” and “development-ready.”
  • Review infrastructure details.
  • Refresh listings at least twice a year to improve search visibility and ensure information remains current for site selectors, AI-powered search tools and online property searches.

Maintain a strong, current database to help position your community for new investment, job creation and long-term economic success.
