Who is eligible to participate in the natural gas interruptible program?
Wisconsin natural gas customers that use at least 20 dekatherms (dk) per day for at least six consecutive months a year are eligible.
How does the program work?
- When natural gas infrastructure faces high demand, we may send a warning to prepare participating customers for an interruption.
- If we call for an interruption, we give a minimum of two hours' notice, per tariff requirements. We make every effort to provide as much advance notice as possible.
- We send communications to the people you choose from your company.
- Participating customers must reduce usage to a predetermined level, usually 1 dekatherm per day.
- We send another message when the curtailment period ends.
- We do not disconnect your gas service.
Can I cancel my business's participation in the program?
Your business may return to uninterruptible supply service, subject to our ability to obtain additional supply and firm pipeline capacity to serve the firm load. Your company will also need to sign a contract for firm service for a one-year period.
