The 2.25-megawatt garden is the second community solar project placed into operation by Alliant Energy in Wisconsin; the company’s first project, located in Fond du Lac, began harnessing the sun to generate energy in January of 2022.
Alliant Energy’s Community Solar program offers electric customers the option to subscribe to blocks of the solar garden. In return, block owners receive bill credits based on the garden’s energy generation over the 20-year life of the project. For this project, the company projects participants will earn credits of approximately $35 per block per year.
While the majority of solar blocks have been purchased, some are still available to Alliant Energy electric customers. For details and to subscribe, visit Alliant Energy’s Janesville Community solar web page.
Alliant Energy began construction in 2024 on the 12-acre project in Northwest Janesville, just east of the Rock Haven Assisted Living facility.
