Important note: The WHEAP Enrollment Bonus program opens December 1, 2026.

We'll begin accepting submissions on December 1. Please review the information below and come back to this page (alliantenergy.com/wheapbonus) on or after December 1 to apply.

What is WHEAP?

The Wisconsin Home Energy Assistance Program (WHEAP) helps eligible households manage home energy costs. Local agencies across Wisconsin administer the assistance to help income-qualified households maintain essential energy service.

Why has Alliant Energy created the WHEAP Enrollment Bonus program?

We encourage more income-qualified customers to apply for WHEAP energy assistance funds, especially those who don’t do so regularly. That's why as of December 1, for eligible customers who did not enroll in WHEAP between October 2025 and September 2026, we offer $200 bill credits with successful WHEAP enrollment. We also offer $200 bonuses to community-based organizations that help these eligible customers access resources. (Note: Funds are limited.)

How do I participate on or after December 1?

  • Customers: Follow the steps in the next section.
  • Community-based organizations: Follow the steps in the section farther down the page.

For customers: How to participate on or after December 1

How does the WHEAP enrollment bonus work?

Alliant Energy customers who successfully enroll in WHEAP and meet the eligibility requirements below may receive a $200 bill credit on their accounts. This is in addition to the energy assistance funds from WHEAP itself.

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility to participate.

To qualify for the bill credit, you must:

  • Be an Alliant Energy customer in Wisconsin.
  • Complete and receive approval for WHEAP enrollment on or after December 1, 2026.
  • Not have been approved for WHEAP during fiscal year 2026 (October 2025-September 2026).
  • Have an active Alliant Energy account at the time the bill credit applies.
  • Participate while program funding remains available.

Step 2: Complete and receive approval for WHEAP enrollment.

You can apply for WHEAP online. If you need assistance applying, find your local WHEAP agency by county or tribe.

Step 3: If approved, we'll apply a $200 bill credit to your Alliant Energy account.

Please note: Bill credits are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis until program funding is exhausted.
