Eligibility and how to participate

Operation ReLeaf participants must be Alliant Energy residential customers in Iowa and willing to pick-up their tree(s) on the day of distribution in their designated region. There is a limit of two trees per household, per planting season.

Advance reservation is required. Fees paid for tree(s) not picked up on the designated distribution day will be considered a donation.

Tree planting workshop

Proper planting is essential to raising a healthy tree. Learn how to properly plant and care for your new tree at the tree planting workshop available at some locations during the pickup event. Watch the steps and find out what you need to make your tree thrive. Experts will be available to answer your questions.

How Operation ReLeaf helps communities

  • Residential customers save energy by planting trees to shade their homes or to create a wind break.
  • Local nurseries can provide low-cost, high-quality and diverse landscape trees to the community.
  • Improved long-term community reforestation and energy conservation through efficient landscaping.
  • Communities and counties hard hit by storm damage can receive flexible and responsive help in re-planting efforts.
