Are Alliant Energy’s wholesale rates competitive?

Yes. Alliant Energy’s wholesale Wisconsin rates are currently equal to, or lower, than other full requirement instate sources. On average, our rates have been lower than our competitors’ rates for the last 10 years. We use sound strategies to retain that position with a sound balanced generation mix and cost-effective planning.

How does your rate structure help us reduce our costs for our customers?

Our bills are based on coincident peak demand, which is in many cases about 10% lower than the community’s maximum demand. This results in a 10% savings assuming equivalent rates.

Is there an upfront investment, payment, administrative charge or debt consideration required as a prerequisite for service that is an additional cost to customers?

No. We don’t have additional charges or liability assumption.

Is Alliant Energy regulated for its power supply portfolio and financing decisions?

Yes. Unlike many power suppliers, Alliant Energy is regulated by FERC and the PSCW, which provides our customers with a level of security that they will receive power at just and reasonable rates.

Can Alliant Energy maintain service and reliability for our customers?

Yes. We have qualified field, technical and other professionals to meet operational needs of a rate-regulated, investor-owned utility. We make these capabilities available to our wholesale Power Partners. We have line and substation crews available to respond every hour, every day.

How can you help us in the event of major storms or system damage?

We maintain material inventories at all of our 31 operations centers. Our inventories include everything necessary for safe and efficient restoration of substation and distribution systems; we have several portable substations for major substation outages. All items in Alliant Energy’s inventories are available for use on our wholesale Power Partners’ systems, 24/7/365.
