Fueled by the passion of our employees and retirees, the company and Foundation work together to improve the quality of life in communities where Alliant Energy has a presence. Through Giving for Good sponsorships and grants, scholarships, and the One Million Trees initiative, we build partnerships that bring more equitable outcomes to programs aligned with our four focus areas. These focus areas are hunger and housing; workforce readiness; environmental stewardship; and community safety and engagement.
The Alliant Energy Foundation is an independent, nonprofit philanthropic organization. The Foundation is funded solely by shareowner dollars from Alliant Energy Corporation.
Social media is a great place to share your news. To get the most out of your post, remember to:
- Include an image. Photos are good; videos are better. Candid, in-the-moment photos and videos of your team and/or community together at events or contributing to your mission make good shots for social media. Just make sure that you have permission from people at private events to post on your social media.
- Tag others. If you worked with another organization on a project or event, tag them on your post so their followers will see it too. Include @alliantenergy in your posts on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn.
- Choose the right social media platform for your post. Was your event for young people? You’ll want to post to Instagram, if possible. Did your event involve members of the local business community? Share to LinkedIn, where you can get in front of donors, job candidates and potential partners for future events.
- Include a couple of sentences that highlight the way your event or initiative aligns with your values and impacts your community.
- If it makes sense for your budget and goals, consider boosting your post. Even $15 or $20 may help increase the number of people who learn about your work and its impact.
Here are a few tips for attention-grabbing photos and video:
- If the photo is for social media, it is okay to hold the camera vertically, or in portrait mode. Otherwise, always shoot horizontally, or in landscape mode.
- Avoid a bright background. This can make it difficult to see the subjects in your photo.
- When photographing a person, put their eyes one third of the way down from the top of the frame.
- When emailing or texting the photo, choose to send it in the largest file size possible. This will ensure the best quality.
