As Iowa students returned to learn this year, indoor air quality was a top consideration to ensure safety in schools.
Alliant Energy, in cooperation with the Energy Association of Iowa Schools (EAIS) and our partner Michaels Energy, began conducting energy audits to assess whether ventilation systems worked at peak performance. We audited the Edgewood-Colesburg, Clinton and Wayne County school districts. Auditors looked at ventilation equipment, filters and CO2 measurements and provided recommendations that not only increased energy efficiency but also helped mitigate airborne pathogens such as the coronavirus.
