The Alliant Energy Customer-Hosted Renewables program celebrated the completion of two more projects late last month with ribbon-cutting events for both the City of Sheboygan Solar Field and Kohler Solar Field.
These projects combine to generate 3.25 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy and highlight the program’s ability to meet the needs of our customers.
The City of Sheboygan Solar Field turned unused land in the Sheboygan Business Center into a 1-MW solar project. The city will receive lease payments on the land for the life of the project, and clean energy will go to the grid to power homes and businesses in the area.
The 2.25-MW Kohler Solar Field is the largest customer-hosted solar project we have installed yet. Kohler will receive Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) from the project, which will offset portions of the energy use at its corporate headquarters with clean energy.
These projects will generate clean energy without the added fuel or maintenance costs that come with traditional fossil fuel generation. Additionally, both Sheboygan and Kohler have proven to be leaders in the region when it comes to advancing renewable energy.
