Optimizing schools’ indoor air quality

As Iowa students returned to learn this year, indoor air quality was a top consideration to ensure safety in schools.

Alliant Energy, in cooperation with the Energy Association of Iowa Schools (EAIS) and our partner Michaels Energy, began to conduct energy audits to assess whether ventilation systems worked at peak performance.

This new addition to our energy audit focused on ventilation equipment and filters and CO2 measurements. These additions provide recommendations that not only increased energy efficiency but also helped mitigate airborne pathogens such as the coronavirus.

We’ve conducted audits for the Edgewood-Colesburg School District, the Clinton School District and Wayne County School District. We hope more EAIS member districts tap into the program.

We are proud work with schools to ensure school building ventilation systems help keep Iowa students safe. To learn more about our energy audit program, visit alliantenergy.com/energyaudit.
