It’s no secret that wind is a powerful source of renewable energy for the communities we proudly serve. A road trip across the Midwest means driving by nearly 700 of our wind turbines, which fuel clean energy generation across Iowa, southern Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Our wind generates enough energy to power 500,000 homes in Iowa alone. With no shortage of strong winds this season, our owned and purchased wind power continues to be an affordable and reliable energy source for all our customers.
Wind energy is also a contributing factor to our diversified energy mix, and it is critical to reaching our goal of net-zero carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2050. Advancing renewable energy is how we invest in our customers and create a healthier future, both environmentally and economically.
Check out this video to learn more about how wind energy has changed the game both for Iowans and our customers across the map.
