Workforce readiness programs in Iowa and Wisconsin

Workforce shortage is a critical issue that continues to impact the economic vitality and growth of many communities across the country. That’s why one of the strategic areas that the Alliant Energy Foundation is focused on is workforce readiness. The foundation is committed to preparing young people and adults with the fundamental skills they need to grow into successful careers.

Below are just two recent examples of how we’ve partnered with communities we serve to support workforce needs.

Marshalltown, Iowa
In late 2022, the Alliant Energy Foundation awarded Iowa’s Jobs for America’s Graduates a $50,000 impact grant to help students find their passion and purpose, graduate high school and find careers that lead to sustainable wealth. As part of the program, students at South Tama and Marshalltown High Schools visited our Technical Training Center in Marshalltown to learn more about our Energy Basics and Registered Apprenticeship programs as career possibilities. The grant will increase the apprenticeship program’s availability to more students and in more locations across Iowa.

Platteville, Wisconsin
For decades, Alliant Energy has been a strong supporter of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, forming a partnership rooted in shared values and interests: Improving the quality of life in local communities, preparing the future workforce and more. Alliant Energy’s support impacts nearly every facet of the university including student scholarships, the Women in STEM program, youth outreach, athletics and more. Alliant Energy sees early career programs and initiatives as critical opportunities to create a solid workforce and attract future employees. Support and collaboration between UW-Platteville and Alliant Energy continues to lead to great success.
