Vice President - Customer and Community Engagement

JP Brummond is Vice President of Customer and Community Engagement at Alliant Energy Corporation (NASDAQ: LNT). He joined the company in 2002, with more than 10 years of prior experience working as a chemical engineer and supervisor in coal and nuclear power plants.

JP joined Alliant Energy as a financial engineer, in what is now the Energy Market Operations (EMO) Department. One of his first big projects was to internally develop software with IT that would be used for many years to interact with the wholesale energy market, which was new at the time. After a variety of leadership assignments in the EMO, he moved on to a variety of positions with increasing levels of responsibility, including leadership roles in Generation, Customer Operations and Business Planning, which included the Environmental, Resource Development, Engineering Solutions and Resource Planning teams. JP also held leadership positions in corporate strategy and had an integral role working with the executive team to define and execute the strategy the company currently follows.

In 2021, JP was named Vice President of Customer and Community Engagement. In this role, he is heavily involved in large retail and wholesale customer support, which involves customer service evaluations, product and service discussions, and emergency/outage preparation and response processes. Other VP responsibilities also include exploring ways to strengthen the communities we’re privileged to serve and fostering their economic development. His regulatory team also manages and implements Wisconsin’s regulatory processes, including rate reviews, compliance filings, and strategic filings and discussions with our regulators. Our corporate purpose of serving customers well and building stronger communities is a great guide for these business areas.

For over a decade, JP has been involved with the company’s Evolving Professionals Connection Employee Resource Group and serves as an Executive Sponsor. He takes pride in the fact that the group – which focuses on engaging and networking with employees – provides members an opportunity to form relationships across the organization with people they might not otherwise meet in their day-to-day work. He also serves on the Energy Risk Management and Trading Committee (ERMTC) that is responsible for governance over many of our internal commodity management and trading processes and procedures.

Outside of work, JP serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the Midwest Reliability Organization (MRO) and the Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce (WMC) Foundation Board.

JP holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
