We're focusing on cleaner energy
Cleaner energy is good for the environment and it’s a good investment, too. Often, renewable or low-emission energy costs are equal to, or less than, the costs of traditional energy generation. That’s why we’re working hard to increase the energy we generate from cleaner sources.
We own and operate several wind farms throughout our service area, and purchase power from many more. From 2016 through 2020, Alliant Energy is investing more than $2 billion in wind generation facilities.
Since the sun shines everywhere, it’s easy to see why solar is getting more popular. Across our Iowa and Wisconsin service area, we support an increasing number of solar projects, including meeting the growing demand for home solar energy generation.
It’s the original clean energy source. We have hydroelectric power generation capacity that is more than 100 years old. We also purchase energy created by water from additional facilities across Wisconsin and Iowa.
Natural gas is more available than ever. And because natural gas generating capacity can be adjusted up or down quickly, it’s a great partner for wind and solar. When the sun isn’t shining or the wind isn’t blowing, natural gas generation can pick up the slack. It’s helping us move toward a cleaner energy future.
