Easily check your Second Nature contribution

If you aren't sure what your percentage level or monthly contribution to Second Nature is, we offer several ways to check.

Residential customers

Check page 2 of your bill. The rate will list Second Nature and your percentage contribution. It will also show the amount listed as the "Second Nature charge" in the bill detail section.

Another easy way to check your contribution level is through My Account, your online self-service tool. Once you are in the overview section, select Manage My Account and Programs, and then select Update in the Second Nature section. If you'd like to change your participation level, choose any of the options in the drop-down menu and select Save.

Non-residential customers

Check page 2 of your bill. The bill detail section will show the amount listed as the "Second Nature charge." 

Another easy way to check your contribution level is through My Account, your online self-service tool. Once you are in the overview section, select Manage My Account and Programs, and then select Update in the Second Nature section. If you'd like to change your contribution, choose a dollar amount and select Save.

Second NatureTM is sold in blocks of kilowatt-hours (kWh) for non-residential customers or matches 100%, 50% or 25% of electricity usage for residential customers. This table provides the Second Nature's renewable resource mix in  in 2017, as well as the 2018 projected resource mix.

1. 2018 Prospective figures reflect the renewables that we have contracted to provide. Actual figures may vary according to resource availability. We will annually report to you before August 1 of next year in the form of a Historic Product Content Label the actual resource mix of the electricity you purchased. 2017 Historic figures reflect the power delivered to Second Nature’s customers in 2017.

2. New Renewables come from generation facilities that first began commercial operation within the past 15 years. For comparison, the current average mix of resources supplying Alliant Energy includes: Coal (40%), Purchased Power (37%), Natural Gas (17%), Wind (5%), and Other (1 %).  (Modified 03/02/2018)
