Alliant Energy Transportation and Business Transportation Solutions agree to sale terms

Alliant Energy Transportation (AET), a subsidiary of Alliant Energy Corporation, has entered into a purchase agreement with Business Transportation Solutions (BTS) located in Stoughton, Wisconsin. The freight-management company opened in 2002 and has 12 employees.

The purchase follows AET’s recent acquisition of Hybrid Transit Solutions (Hybrid) in Cedar Rapids. The addition of Hybrid and BTS are a key part of AET’s strategic growth plan to provide industry-leading customized supply chain solutions for our customers.

AET President, Kevin Burke, says the time is right to take advantage of the synergies created by AET’s existing and new services. “BTS opens doors to new markets in Wisconsin and beyond. They have an exceptional reputation and we’re excited to utilize their expertise as we offer customers expanded supply chain solutions,” said Burke.

BTS President, Mark Halverson, explains how the opportunity is a smart strategy for both companies. “With the strength of the Alliant Energy Transportation name behind us, this collaboration will bring positive opportunities for our employees and customers. We look forward to this partnership.”

AET has long operated two successful companies: the Cedar Rapids and Iowa City Railway, and IEI Barge Services in East Dubuque, Illinois. These companies offer logistics services to several Alliant Energy industrial customers and can serve several of the available Alliant Energy Growth Sites, including Big Cedar Industrial Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

Two industrial properties added to Alliant Energy Growth Sites portfolio

Alliant Energy understands the considerations companies undertake when looking to expand and relocate. To help streamline this process, we created a portfolio of Growth Sites. These are Alliant Energy served sites in Iowa and Wisconsin that have a minimum of 80 industrial acres and are certified development-ready by a third party consulting firm. We have just added two new shovel-ready sites to our portfolio.
Liberty Business Park
Verona, Wisconsin
155 acres

Located in south central Wisconsin, Verona is a rapidly growing community minutes from downtown Madison and the University of Wisconsin-Madison, with immediate access to four-lane U.S. Highway 18/151 and the Interstate 39-90 corridor.

Verona is located less than two hours driving from Milwaukee, Rockford, IL and Dubuque, IA. One day hauls include the Twin Cities, Des Moines, St. Louis, and Indianapolis to approximately 30 million people in the Midwest. Deloitte Consulting has designated Liberty Business Park as a certified shovel ready site.
