To assist our Iowa customers in their time of greatest need, Alliant Energy Foundation has created Project ReConnect. The program will help fund electrical repairs that will restore power after the derecho on August 10.

As Alliant Energy has restored power to communities following the storm, some of our most vulnerable customers are unable to receive available power due to extensive damage to exterior electrical systems, including the weatherhead, service mast and meter box, that belong to the homeowner.

Project ReConnect covers the costs for a licensed electrician to make these repairs. Once the repairs are made, Alliant Energy can fully restore power to the home. The cost for an electrician to make these repairs can be up to $1,500.

We’ve partnered with four nonprofit organizations, United Way of East Central Iowa (UWECI), Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP), Mid-Iowa Community Action and Community Action of Eastern Iowa to assist low-income customers who can’t afford the expense of an electrician to make essential repairs before Alliant Energy reconnects them.

Contributions

Project Reconnect has been made possible through the following contributions.

Alliant Energy Foundation - $210,000
Employees & Retirees of Alliant Energy - $105,000
United Way of East Central Iowa - $40,000
Border States Electric - $10,000
