How will I be notified when my bill is available to view?

You will receive an email when your bill is available to view. The email will contain a link to log in to My Account and view your bill.

Will I continue to receive a paper bill?

No, you will not continue to receive your paper bill.

Will my online bill have the same information as my paper bill?

Yes. The online bill includes the same information you previously saw on your paper bill. It also has links to electronic versions of the inserts you would have  received with your paper bill.

I am signed up for Paperless Billing, but I didn't receive an email telling me my bill is ready. Why not?

There are several reasons this could happen:

  • Check your spam filter, and make sure it is not blocking email from Alliant Energy.
  • Make sure your inbox is not full.
  • Verify that the email address you provided is correct.
  • Add to your safe email address list. You may need to contact your email provider to authorize receiving emails from this address.

You are responsible for paying your bill each month, even if you don't receive an email notification.

My email address has changed. How can I update My Account so I don’t miss a notification?

When you log into My Account, there is a User Profile icon in the upper right of the page, next to the sign out link. This is where you’ll manage your account information. This includes your profile email, profile name, password and username that you can update. You are responsible for paying your bill each month, even if you don't receive an email notification. 

Can I view my previous bills online?

Yes, you can view up to 36 months of your bills and payments online.

Do I have to sign up for Paperless Billing to access my account information or pay my bill online?

No. You can enroll in My Account to view your information and pay your bill online without signing up for Paperless Billing.

I need a paper copy of my bill for verification purposes (school enrollment, etc.). How do I get a copy? 

You can print a PDF of your bill online with My Account.

Do I need to back up my billing information on my computer?

Your billing information is available online for up to 36 months. If you need records that go back more than 36 months, you will need to store the information on your own.

Can I use Paperless Billing on multiple accounts?

Yes. If you have multiple accounts, you will need to enroll them individually for Paperless Billing. However, you can enroll them all under the same My Account User ID and password.

How do I cancel Paperless Billing?

You can cancel and return to receiving a paper bill at any time by logging in to My Account and going to the My Profile tab or by calling us at 1-800-ALLIANT (800-255-4268).
