Financial assistance available for nonprofits impacted by COVID-19

Volunteer Iowa and the Iowa Economic Development Authority (IEDA) have introduced the Iowa Nonprofit Recovery Fund. 

The fund provides short-term relief to nonprofit organizations that have been financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.  A total of $10 million is available and has been allocated through federal CARES Act funds. 

Organizations can receive up to $25,000 based on criteria that considers income, expenses, and any other state and federal assistance received.

Initially, eligible nonprofits must have:

  • Experienced a documented, involuntary loss of revenue and/or increase in expenses that occurred after March 1, 2020, due to the COVID-19 public health emergency.
  • An annual operating budget above $25,000.
  • 25 or fewer full-time equivalent employees.

Applications will be accepted until August 14 at 5 pm or until funds have been exhausted.
