Switch to natural gas

You can save hundreds every year

Do you still use propane or fuel oil to heat your home? It’s never been a better time to switch to natural gas.

  • Low cost: Natural gas can save you money on home heating.
  • Reliable and convenient: With natural gas, you don’t need a storage tank on your property. There’s no delivery or pickup to schedule. It comes right to you.

Costs and rebates

If you currently heat your home with propane, you may not need to replace your heating equipment or water heater. However, if you do not have natural gas appliances or heating equipment, a plumbing or heating contractor will likely charge for the conversion and related work.

If you now use fuel oil, you will need to invest in new heating and water-heating equipment that a qualified contractor will install..

We offer rebates for our Iowa customers and Focus on Energy offers rebates for our Wisconsin customers.

There may be a cost for service installation from Alliant Energy, but there is no cost for meter installation.

Digging or excavation

Some digging may be necessary to install the natural gas equipment on your property. We will make every effort to protect your property from damage. If necessary, we will fill excavated areas with black dirt and re-seed at no cost to you.

Propane or fuel oil tank removal

For your safety, your local propane or fuel oil dealer should handle tank removal.
