CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – October 2, 2007 – Alliant Energy announced today that its Lansing Generating Station has been named the national recipient of the ‘2007 Best Performer’ by the Electric Utility Cost Group (EUCG). The EUCG is a global association of utility professionals and member companies that are recognized as the electric energy industry standard for performance.

The Lansing Generating Station in Lansing, Iowa received first place honors in the ‘small performers’ category at the EUCG’s national fall conference in Denver, Colorado on October 2. The “small performer” category recognizes generating facilities with average unit capacities of 250 megawatts or less. The awards are based on each generating station’s management of costs and reliability record in 2007.

In 2006, Alliant Energy’s Sixth Street Generating station in Cedar Rapids, Iowa was named ‘Best Small Plant Performer’ and in 2005, Alliant’s Dubuque Generating Station in Dubuque, Iowa and M.L. Kapp Generating Station in Clinton, Iowa were recipients of the ‘2004 Best Small Plant Performer’ Award. Alliant Energy also received recognition in the same category for its operation of the Nelson Dewey Generating Station in Cassville, Wisconsin.

Approximately eighty generating stations from across the United States were benchmarked for EUCG’s study, with the Lansing Generating Station receiving top honors in the ‘small performer’ category.
