E-Community Dubuque Partner

Alliant Energy is proud to partner with the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council (DALMC) to facilitate the E-Community Dubuque program.

The council is a private, not-for-profit educational organization based in Dubuque. The group’s vision states, "Through aggressive labor and management leadership and cooperation, we will improve the economic environment of the tri-state area."

The council also has several other committees, programs, public relations and community actions to provide direction to their educational and outreach efforts.

DALMC members are employers and unions with collectively bargained labor agreements in both the public and private sector. In addition, the Labor-Management Council has 34 community advisors, individual leaders who are "ambassadors" to and for the council.

According to Chuck Isenhart, executive director for the Dubuque Area Labor-Management Council, the DALMC board approved involvement in the E-Community project because the program will benefit a wide range of Dubuque area industries, businesses, government agencies, educational institutions, non-profit organizations and residents.

"Capital investments and operational improvements, in any enterprise, are of mutual interest to both workers and managers – especially when those improvements enhance the bottom line and result in job security," said Isenhart. "A community committed to wise energy use provides an attractive environment where manufacturing industries and other businesses can survive, succeed and expand."

"This is an exciting opportunity for the people of Dubuque to work together to accomplish projects and develop leadership in making our community more energy efficient and environmentally responsible,” said Dan White, president of UAW Local 94, labor chair for DALMC and E-Community advisory board member. “The rewards Alliant Energy-IP&L brings as we accomplish our plan will continue our effort in making this a great city."

"I anticipate tremendous participation and enthusiasm for E-Community in Dubuque," added Mike Portzen, president of Portzen Construction Company and management chair for DALMC. "This is a community of hard-working people who embrace challenges. I'm confident we can and will make Dubuque more energy efficient."
