Committed to regulatory complianceAlliant Energy is committed to compliance with all environmental laws and regulations. Our assessment program reviews our conformance to environmental regulations and to our company’s environmental and safety policies and procedures. The results of the assessments and the resolution of the issues are discussed with facility managers and site personnel. An environmental performance measure reflecting assessment item resolution rates are tracked at the highest levels of the company. The importance of environmental compliance is further reflected in our compensation programs, which contain components for goals relating to environmental, health and safety matters. Alliant Energy provides transparency on environmental issues to the public through Securities and Exchange Commission filings that disclose all environmental liabilities considered to be important or “material” to an investor. These disclosed environmental liabilities include material financial impacts of current and emerging environmental regulations, remediation activities, sanctions from regulatory agencies, and legal proceedings. Alliant Energy has an internal environmental risk mitigation process. Through this process we identify and manage environmental risk from current regulatory requirements and emerging issues that have potential to impact the business plans of the company. Our process ensures that cost-effective compliance is achieved and identifies issues of strategic relevance for advocacy with regulatory agencies and other stakeholders. | |
