For residential electric customers in Minnesota
Did you know that the average Midwest home has approximately 55 lights? By replacing the bulbs in the five most frequently used lights in your home with ENERGY STAR® qualified lighting, you can save more than $65 each year in energy costs.
ENERGY STAR lighting creates bright, warm light while using two-thirds less energy, generating 70 percent less heat and lasting up to 10 times longer than standard lighting. Not only will you save on energy costs, but IPL offers you cash back on the purchase price.
Replace one incandescent light bulb with an energy-efficient CFL and you’ll save $30 in energy costs over the bulb’s lifetime. That’s just one bulb – imagine the impact if every time an incandescent bulb burned out, you replaced it with a CFL.
Today’s CFLs are available in a variety of shapes, sizes, and applications, including dimmable three-way and other speciality bulbs. CFLs are a smart choice, because they shed the same amount of light (lumens) as standard incandescent bulbs, but use much less energy. Always refer to the lumen or light output guide on the bulb packaging for guidance. For example, when replacing a 60-watt incandescent bulb, choose a 13-15 watt CFL (both shed about 800 lumens of light).
