If your home qualifies, we’ll send a certified energy expert to inspect your home. The auditor will identify ways for you to reduce your energy usage, give you estimates on how much the upgrades will cost, and tell you how much you can expect to save. The auditor may even install some energy-saving measures on the spot at no cost.
The energy expert will analyze many features of your home, including:
As much as 15 percent of the energy you pay for escapes from your home through cracks and gaps in the walls and attic. Upgrading your attic insulation to 12 inches can reduce your heating costs by 30 percent.
And a $50 investment in weatherizing materials can help you save $150 on your heating bills - in just one winter!
Alliant Energy-IPL will pay for a portion of the cost of upgrading your ceiling, foundation and in-wall insulation: 70 percent of the home auditor’s estimated cost of contract installation labor and equipment, to install the recommended amount of insulation, up to a maximum of $750 for each insulation type.
Alliant Energy-IPL will also pay for a portion of the cost of home sealing, such as caulking and weatherstripping: 70 percent of the total cost of contract labor, materials and equipment, up to a maximum of $200.

Special note for business customers: All insulation claims will be subject to a post-installation project verification, this is a pre-requisite for the incentive payment. Audits will be scheduled with your company after the incentive claim form is received and payment will be issued upon receipt of your verification report.

When your Home Energy Audit is complete, your energy specialist will give you a claim form and will include the estimated cost of installing the recommended level of insulation. Whether you hire an insulation professional or complete the job yourself, fill out the claim form, attach a copy of your receipt (including equipment rental cost) and send it to us.
Within eight weeks, you'll receive a check from Alliant Energy-IPL for a portion of the cost of the upgrade.
