Co-op Advertising

Alliant Energy's Co-op Advertising Program is designed to encourage the promotion of energy-efficient equipment.

This includes heating and cooling equipment, lighting, high-efficiency clothes washers, building shell measures, agricultural measures and other energy-efficient products deemed qualified by Alliant Energy.

Eligibility

This program is available to Energy-Efficiency Partners in the Alliant Energy service area who are involved in the sale of energy-efficient comfort equipment, lighting, building shell measures and other products deemed eligible for customer incentives.

Before submitting claims, you must be signed up and have on file an approved Participation Agreement.

 

Effective dates

To qualify, advertising must be placed in the current calendar year. This program is subject to change and periodic review.

 

Allowance

Each Energy-Efficiency Partner will be reimbursed for 50 percent of newspaper, broadcast or billboard media advertising costs up to allocated budget per dealer, per year.

 

Media

Acceptable media include newspapers, shoppers, radio, TV, Web sites and billboards.

Alliant Energy will review additional requests.

 

Required inclusions

Newspapers and shoppers:

  • All newspaper ads must devote 50 percent of the ad space to the specific product, i.e., high-efficiency central air conditioners, geothermal heat pumps, etc.
  • Where specific products are included in ad copy, the product must meet Alliant Energy efficiency standards.
  • Ads must include the Alliant Energy Efficiency Partner logo and a tagline stating energy-efficient equipment.
  • Logo size must be a minimum of 1 1/2 inches by 1 inch and proportionate to ad size.

Radio and TV:

  • All radio and TV advertising must devote 50 percent of copy toward the sale of specified products, with mention of the product and the Alliant Energy Energy-Efficiency Partner Program at least twice in each commercial.

Billboard:

  • All billboard ads must devote 50 percent of the ad space to the specific product, i.e., high-efficiency central air conditioners, geothermal heat pumps, etc.
  • Where specific products are included in ad copy, the product must meet Alliant Energy efficiency standards.
  • Ads must include the Alliant Energy Energy-Efficiency Partner logo and must be legible from 150 yards.
  • Logo must be proportionate to ad size.

Other acceptable inclusions

Other products may be included in the advertising provided they do not compete with the products specified by Alliant Energy. For example, a gas water heater may not be included in a geothermal heating and cooling ad.

Unacceptable inclusions

  • Ads shall not mention any utility company other than Alliant Energy.
  • Registered names or bylines without the owner's permission are also not permitted.
  • Business card and signature ads are not acceptable.

Requirements for reimbursement

Co-op advertising requests must be approved before being published.

Alliant Energy will examine materials for eligibility based on the requirements noted above. Exclusion of any one of the minimum requirements may make the request invalid. Alliant Energy reserves the right to refuse an ad not meeting the outlined requirements.

Also include:

  • A completed Co-op Advertising form which must include your name, dealer ID number, the size of the ad, date run, net cost and the program the product falls under (i.e., Heating & Cooling).
  • A copy of the original media invoice.
  • A tearsheet or copy of the newspaper ad with the date published printed on it.
  • Logo size must be a minimum of one inch and proportionate to ad size.
  • A script and affidavit of performance for radio advertising.
  • A copy of a billboard creative with Energy-Efficiency Partner logo with date printed on it.

Remember, according to your participation agreement, you must use these authorized logos in your co-op advertising.  If you do not use the correct logos, your application for co-op funds will be denied.  If you are having trouble downloading the logos, please contact tradeallies@alliantenergy.com and we’ll e-mail you the correct version.

The programs outlined here are effective January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2009, and are subject to periodic review and modification by Alliant Energy.
