The reward programs outlined below are offered to Iowa residential electric and/or gas customers and are effective from January 1, 2009, through December 31, 2009.

PLEASE NOTE: Before submitting claims, please review the “Terms & Conditions” on the claim form carefully. Claim forms must be filled out completely and all receipts must be included to avoid delays in processing.

Heating, Cooling & Comfort Measures

This program provides rebates on the purchase and installation of high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment, including natural gas furnaces and boilers, air conditioners, heat pumps, clock programmable thermostats and water heaters.

Claim forms:

Submitting a claim:

  • Heating and cooling contractors will submit a claim form on behalf of the customer.
  • Claim forms must be submitted within 90 days of installation.
  • Within eight weeks, customers will receive a check from Alliant Energy based on the efficiency rating of the equipment.
  • If you submit both heating and cooling claims for a single customer, you must send two copies of the receipt. Heating and cooling claims are processed separately; please do not attach both claim forms together with only one receipt.
  • If you change the condenser and coils to achieve a certain SEER which is not in the ARI directory, you must send corresponding factory verification to receive the correct incentive for your customer.

New Home Construction

This program offers incentives for the construction of an energy-efficient new home. Base rebates range from $500 to $1,750 depending on the square footage of the home and whether the home receives heating and/or cooling energy from Alliant Energy-IPL.

Replacement Doors and Windows

This program offers homeowners $25 per qualifying door, window or sash. Qualifying doors and windows must be rated for the Northern climate zone and be a minimum of 8 square feet each.

  • Claims for replacement doors, windows and sashes rewards will be submitted by the customer.

Lighting Reward

This program offers residential and business electric customers a $2 reward on each ENERGY STAR rated compact fluorescent light bulb they install. It also provides a $20 reward per qualifying lighting fixture or ceiling fan with lighting kits.

Appliances

This program offers customers a rebate on the purchase of an ENERGY STAR rated washer, refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner.

Appliance Recycling Rewards

This program helps customers dispose of old, inefficient refrigerators, freezers and window air conditioners. Alliant Energy-IPL partners with a recycling contractor to remove and dispose of appliances safely.

Customers receive $35 per appliance or can elect to donate the $35 to help local families in need (tax deductible).

Submitting a claim:

  • Qualifying customers should call the Energy-Efficiency Hotline at 1-866-ALLIANT (1-866-255-4268) to have a refrigerator, freezer or window air conditioner removed.

Home Energy Audit & Insulation

This program offers qualifying Iowa homeowners a free professional energy audit and an incentive for upgrading insulation.

Alliant Energy-IPL will send a certified energy expert to inspect the customer's home. The expert will help the homeowner identify ways to reduce energy usage and give an estimate of the cost for improvements.

Specifications and incentives:

Alliant Energy-IPL will pay a portion of the customer's cost of upgrading insulation and weatherization measures:

  • Attic insulation: 70 percent of total, up to $500
  • Foundation insulation: 70 percent of total, up to $500
  • Wall insulation: 70 percent of total, up to $500
  • Caulking and weatherstripping: 70 percent of total, up to $150
  • Cost includes contract labor and equipment rental (excludes labor if done by customer).

Low-Interest Financing

With low-interest financing from Alliant Energy-IPL and our financial institution, loans of $1,500 to $25,000 are provided to qualifying customers with no loan fees, points, security liens or down payments. Customers can choose the terms that meet their individual needs.

Submitting a claim:

  • After the customer has chosen the equipment they want, dealers will provide them with the specifications (brand, model, size, energy use, etc.).
  • Customers will call the Efficiency Solutions Hotline with specifications, and consultants will verify that the equipment meets minimum energy efficiency standards.
  • If the equipment qualifies, Alliant Energy-IPL will contact our financial institution with customer and equipment information. A financial institution representative will then contact the customer to begin the loan application process.

Appliance Cycling

This program is available to Alliant Energy-IPL residential electric customers in selected Iowa communities. Please contact your trade account manager for a list of eligible communities in your area.

The Appliance cycling program offers residential electric customers a bill credit for allowing a cycling switch to be installed on their central air conditioner and/or electric water heater.

Alliant Energy-IPL pays an $8 bill credit on the June, July, August and September bills for the air conditioner switch. If the customer also cycles an electric water heater, Alliant Energy-IPL adds an additional two dollars to the monthly bill credit.
