Room air conditioner

Your trusty old room air conditioner. Sure, it works. But is it working well? If it isn’t ENERGY STAR qualified or is more than 15 years old, you’ll want to consider replacing it. An energy-efficient model will cost much less to run and will cool your space for much less money. You can expect to save about 10% on cooling costs (source: ENERGY STAR). That equals about $20 a summer for the average Alliant Energy residential customer.

$20

Requirements:
- Units must be ENERGY STAR qualified
- Alliant Energy must provide the electricity for the unit
- Qualifying unit must be shown in the current AHRI directory
- Alliant Energy must provide the fuel for the technology installed

How do I apply?

Important information:
Remember, a bigger unit is not better, and will not cool your room faster. Buying an air conditioner that is too large for a room will simply make the room more humid and will waste energy at the same time (source: ENERGY STAR). So make sure your unit is properly sized for the room.

Recycle your old working refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner and get up to $50 the same day with Alliant Energy’s Appliance Recycling program.
