If it's time to install a new heating or cooling unit in your home, it makes sense to invest in an energy-saving system. It also makes sense to ask your dealer about Alliant Energy’s rebates on high-efficiency products.
In many cases, we can help you buy a more efficient unit for about the same price as a less efficient one. You'll save money in lower operating costs for years to come!
Eligible equipment and rebate amountsThe table below gives an overview of the types of eligible equipment and the range of reward amounts available.
Details are outlined in the 2013 Iowa Residential Rebates booklet [PDF].
Equipment / RebateNatural gas boilers (Units less than 300,000 Btuh, minimum AFUE = 85%)
AFUE = 85%-89% ............................................ $150
AFUE = 90% or greater .................................... $400
Natural gas furnaces (minimum AFUE = 92%)
AFUE = 92%-93% ............................................ $250
AFUE = 94%-95% ............................................ $325
AFUE = 96% or greater ..................................... $400
Electrically efficient fan motor
New installations only....................................... $50
*Electric customers only
Electric customers who purchase a gas furnace with an electrically efficient fan motor qualify for the $50 rebate.
Your gas furnace may or may not have an efficient motor. Consult with your dealer, contractor, or the AHRI directory to determine if it qualifies for the fan motor rebate.
Central air conditioners
(Minimum SEER = 14.0, units 65,000 Btuh or less)
SEER = 14.0 .....................................................$100
SEER = 15.0 or greater ........................................$200
Room air conditioners (3 max.)
ENERGY STAR rated ........................................... $25
Air-source heat pumps** (Minimum SEER = 14.0, minimum ItSPF = 7.70, units 65,000 Btuh or less)
SEER = 14.0 .....................................................$100
SEER = 15.0 or greater ........................................$200
And
HSPF 7.70-8.45................................................ $200
HSPF > 8.5 ........................................................$400
**Airsource heat pump must meet both SEER and HSPF ratings, condensor and coil must be replaced.
Geothermal (water-to-air)
systems 180,000 Btuh or 15 tons or lessClosed loop: minimum EER = 14.1 and COP = 3.3
Rebate = ($300 x tons) + [(EER - 14.1) x $50 x tons]
Open loop: minimum EER = 16.2 and COP = 3.6
Rebate= ($300 x tons) + [(EER - 16.2) x $50 x tons]
For desuperheater.................................................$100
Rebate paid per efficiency listed in AHRI directory.Geothermal (water-to-water)***
Closed loop: minimum EER = 14.1 and COP = 3.1
Rebate = ($300 x tons) + [(EER – 14.1) x $50 x tons]
Water-to-water must provide heating and cooling.
For desuperheater……………………………………………………$100
Rebate paid per efficiency listed in AHRI directory.***Tonnage for geothermal rebates is measured per geothermal system. If multiple units make up a system, the total tonnage of the combined units will be used for rebate processing.
If locked rotor amps are more than 100, please call 1-800-ALLIANT (ask for a Field Engineering Specialist).
Base geothermal rebate paid is the calculated rebate or $5,000, whichever is less. Base geothermal rebate limitations do not include the desuperheater bonus. Systems totaling 15 tons or more will be calculated through a custom rebate and are not subject to the formulas on this form.

Electric tank-type: EF = 0.93 or greater .............................$50
Electric heat pump ENERGY STAR qualified........$100
Natural gas tank-type: EF = 0.67 or greater........................... $75
Natural gas condensing: EF = 90% or greater.....$300
Natural gas tankless: EF**** = 0.80 or greater............................$300
(****Must be dealer installed to verify adequate gas pressure prior to installation)
For tankless, contact your plumber to verify gas pressure is adequate. If an upgrade is needed, please call 1-800-ALLIANT (ask for a Field Engineering Specialist).
