For Alliant Energy agriculture customers in Minnesota
When buying an appliance, remember that it has two price tags: what you pay to take it home and what you pay for the energy and water it uses.
ENERGY STAR® qualified appliances incorporate advanced technologies that use 10–50 percent less energy and water than standard models. The money you save on your utility bills can more than make up for the cost of a more expensive but more efficient ENERGY STAR model. Plus, Alliant Energy will give you a rebate on your qualifying ENERGY STAR appliance purchase.

Refrigerators
In most households, the refrigerator is the single biggest energy consuming kitchen appliance. ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators use high-efficiency compressors, improved insulation and more precise temperature and defrost mechanisms to improve energy efficiency. If your refrigerator was manufactured before 1993, you could be wasting $100 or more in electricity every year.
| Equipment | Rebate |
| ENERGY STAR qualified refrigerators (10 max., 10 cubic ft. or larger) | $50 |

Room air conditioners
ENERGY STAR qualified room air conditioners use at least 10 percent less energy than conventional models. These models often include timers for better temperature control, allowing you to use the minimum amount of energy needed to cool your room. Make sure your unit is properly sized to your dwelling – most people install units that are too large, and thus inefficient.
| Equipment | Rebate |
| ENERGY STAR qualifying room air conditioners (20 maximum) | $25 |

Electric water heaters
If your water heater is more than 10 years old, it probably is 50 percent less efficient than a newer model. An old, inefficient water heater can operate for years before it fails. One way to reduce your water heating costs is to replace your old water heater with a new, higher efficiency model.
| Equipment | Rebate |
| Electric tank type water heater, 40 gallon tank or greater, Energy Factor (EF) 0.93 or greater | $50 |
| Electric heat pump water heater, ENERGY STAR qualified | $100 |
