Build in energy savings before construction starts – whether it’s new construction or a major remodel. You’ll save on energy costs and add investment value to your property. Energy-efficient buildings use less energy, cost less to operate and impact the environment less than conventional buildings.
Alliant Energy’s Commercial New Construction program offers free energy design assistance, design team incentives and customer incentives through two unique options.
Track I
Track I is an option targeting the construction of commercial buildings smaller than, or up to 15,000 square feet in size that are primarily design/build or design/bi/buil construction.
Track II
Track II targets buildings larger than 15,000 square feet that are straightforward in design and may be on a faster design schedule. Track II provides evaluation of efficiency options of one type of mechanical system solution.
Track III
Track III targets buildings larger than 15,000 square feet and is ideal for projects with energy savings goals in mind and enough time to integrate new ideas and strategies into the design. Buildings designed in this track are typically modeled to achieve energy savings of 30 to 40% greater than Energy Code.
Track IV
Track IV offers incentives and assistance to help building owners or developers achieve energy savings of 40 to 60% better than current energy code. This track also provides technical and certification support for participants to meet the requirements of LEED Eac1, ENERGY STAR, EPAct, 2030 Challenge and other initiatives.
Energy design assistance
This free comprehensive approach to energy savings includes personalized computer energy modeling for your planned building which predicts energy use, suggests energy-saving strategies and projects energy-cost savings.
Design team incentives
A design team participation incentive is offered to offset all or most of the expense associated with working with our energy consultant. The consultant’s role is to facilitate design team collaboration on various energy-saving strategies.
Construction incentives
The more energy saved, the more incentives you earn. Construction incentives for electric usage range from six cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) for 15 percent savings, to 19 cents per kWh for 60 percent plus savings above Energy Code. For natural gas usage, construction incentives range from 60 cents per therm for 15 percent savings, to $1.90 per therm for 60 percent plus savings above Energy Code.
