  • Estimated first year output in kWh x $0.50
  • Optimal annual energy usage of the facility in kWh x .75 x $0.50
    • Determined through the energy and site assessments
  • Maximum of $20,000 per project

Energy-Efficient Level is the lesser of the following options:

  • Estimated first year output in kWh x $1.00

Step-by-step process

Step 1:  Use the online self-assessment tool to determine your property’s renewable energy potential, estimated energy output, installation cost, and the rebate amount

Step 2:  Based on the information you provided in step one, Alliant Energy will contact you to schedule the following:

a.  An energy efficiency assessment. To qualify for a renewable rebate you are required to complete this assessment.

During the assessment an energy expert will analyze:

  • Heating and cooling systems
  • Kitchen and laundry appliances
  • Lighting • Windows, doors and insulation levels

An energy assessment will:

  • Identify ways to reduce energy use
  • Provide estimates on how much improvements will cost
  • Estimate how much your business can expect to save on your utility bill

b.  A site assessment to review your property’s potential to generate renewable energy. To qualify for a renewable rebate customers are required to complete the site assessment ($250 fee).

  • The audit and site assessment may be scheduled on the same day and may take up to five hours to complete
  • The required site assessment must be performed by an assessor contracted by Alliant Energy

Step 3:  Determine which of the two rebate levels; Energy-Efficient or Standard, is appropriate using the results from the energy and site assessments. The maximum rebate is the lesser of:

  • The system's estimated first year kWh output x the rebate $/kWh amount
  • The business’ energy efficient usage x 75 percent x the rebate $/kWh amount

Step 4:  Choose an installer that will help review the system components, options and costs.

Step 5:  Submit the interconnection application and fee appropriate for your renewable system.

Step 6:  Alliant Energy will contact you regarding project scheduling and meter installation.

Step 7:  After the interconnection has been approved, you may complete the installation of your renewable energy system and begin generating renewable energy!

Step 8:  Submit the renewable rebate form.
