For Alliant Energy's residential electric customers in Iowa
Old working appliances, like that refrigerator in your garage, may seem convenient. But keeping it around and running can add up to $100 to your yearly energy bill.
If you have a working* refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner you don't need, give us a call! We'll send a recycling contractor to pick up and dispose of your old appliance properly - and we'll give you a check ($50 for working refrigerators/freezers; $25 for working room air conditioners).
Up to 95% of the appliances can be recycled and repurposed into things like pop cans, computer cases and cell phone cases. Curious about what will happen to your old appliance? Check out this video and find out.
* Working refrigerator, freezer or room air conditioner is defined as the motor runs and cools.
