Minnesota Electric Rates

2010 Minnesota Electric Rate Case logoOn May 7, 2010, Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL), an Alliant Energy company, filed with the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (MPUC) a request to adjust its Minnesota electric customers' rates.

The request is necessary to recover the costs of more than $1 billion of investments in renewable energy, emissions reductions at existing power plants and to enhance the safety and reliability of our company’s energy infrastructure for the benefit of customers over the past five years. This is our first request to adjust Minnesota electric rates since 2005.

On June 17, 2010, the MPUC authorized an interim increase in electric revenues of approximately $14.1 million or 20.1 percent, effective July 6, 2010. The impact of the proposed change in electric rates will vary depending on customer class.

The company expects that the public hearing schedule will be released later this summer. As more information becomes available, updated information on the process will be provided.
