Western Union payment information

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR IOWA CUSTOMERS
We recently upgraded our customer information and billing system. All customers received new account numbers. Western Union can process payments with the old or new account number. 

If you are paying your bill using your new account number, please ask Western Union to use the “Alliant IPL 10” key when processing your payment. Your new account number can be found at the top of your newly designed bill, which you will receive in February or March.

At Western Union locations where blue border forms are used for Quick Collect payments, please use your 10-digit account number. Even though forms show 13-digits, you can pay with your new 10-digit account number.

Western Union® Convenience Pay®

Take your bill to a Western Union® Convenience Pay® agent outlet (located in many stores) and pay your utility bill with cash, check or money order. It's fast, easy and reliable.

Western Union® Convenience Pay® Western Union® Convenience Pay® service benefits:

  • It's available at select agent locations in Iowa and Wisconsin. To find a location near you, call 1-800-551-8001.
  • Send multiple bill payments from one location.
  • One-stop shopping - make payments and shop at the same time in many locations

How to use Western Union® Convenience Pay® service:

  • Take your bill and cash, check or money order to a nearby participating Western Union® Convenience Pay® agent location.
  • You will receive a transaction receipt once your transaction has been completed.
  • The fee to process a transaction is just $1.00.

Western Union® Convenience Pay® payments are posted to your account within two business days. If you are paying due to a disconnect notice, call our Customer Service Center at 1-800-ALLIANT (800-255-4268) with your Western Union® Convenience Pay® confirmation number so we can note it on your account.

Western Union® Convenience Pay® charges a transaction fee of $1.00 for each transaction, for payments up to $2,500, to cover the costs of processing payments. This fee amount will be reflected as a separate charge.

About the Western Union® Convenience Pay® transaction fee:

Alliant Energy utilizes a third party, Western Union® Convenience Pay®, to provide you with the ability to make utility payments by cash, check or money order.

The transaction fee is the amount Western Union® Convenience Pay® charges to cover processing fees and transaction costs associated with handling payments.

By charging only the customers who use this service, it's a fair way to pay for this option. Only the customers who choose to use this service will be charged the fee.
