Balancing your budget can be a juggling act, but with Alliant Energy's Budget Billing program, you can spread heating and cooling costs over the entire year.
You'll pay the same amount each month so you can budget effectively - with no seasonal surprises.
How Budget Billing works
Budget Billing spreads your energy costs evenly over a 12-month period, so you know in advance how much your payment will be. The amount you pay is calculated based on the average amount billed at your address over the past 12 months.
To keep your payments accurate, your account is reviewed every six months, and the monthly bill amount is adjusted if necessary. If there's a significant difference, we'll adjust your monthly budget amount up or down accordingly.
If you used more energy than you paid for, you'll owe us - the amount owed will be divided by 12 and added to your new budget amount.
If you used less energy than you paid for, we'll owe you - your future budget bills will be adjusted appropriately.
If you just moved in, you may want to establish your own usage history before enrolling in the plan, or we can estimate a budget amount.
