Alliant Energy Kids (Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin)
Alliant Energy Kids is designed to teach students important concepts about electricity and natural gas: How it works, where it comes from, ways to reduce energy usage, and how to stay safe.
The lesson plans, online games and activities to do at home or school promote energy awareness that will help students make meaningful connections between everyday activities and energy.
The timeframe for 4th and 5th grade teachers in the Alliant Energy service territory to order The Energy Zone, a twelve-page student magazine, and the classroom poster is now closed. However, teachers will be able to order again in the fall of 2012.

LivingWise® (Iowa only)
The best way for students to learn about energy efficiency is through a hands-on approach and the LivingWise program offers just that. Middle school students participate in interactive energy lessons and receive a kit with low-cost energy-saving measures, such as a low-flow showerhead, a compact fluorescent light bulb, and a faucet aerator.
The students bring the kit home and actually install the measures themselves. These small changes result in immediate energy savings and encourage energy-efficient behaviors in the classroom and at home.
Questions can be directed to energyefficiency@alliantenergy.com.

Trees for Kids (Iowa only)
Trees improve the landscaping on school grounds and when planted in the right location, improve the energy efficiency of the building itself. The Trees for Kids program, in conjunction with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, provides schools the opportunity to apply for tree planting grants at new and existing schools during spring and fall.
Visit the Iowa DNR website for more information and the grant application or contact Alliant Energy at trees@alliantenergy.com.
