The Children’s Center receives Alliant Energy Foundation support Alliant Energy Foundation provides grant to improve playground
CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – August 24, 2009 – The Alliant Energy Foundation provided The Children’s Center with a $1,000 grant to support improvements for the school age playground at the center. The mission of The Children’s Center is to provide a safe environment where children can learn and grow.
The Children’s Center has been part of the Albert Lea community for 40 years. The center provides quality child care and encourages individual development. The philosophy behind the curriculum is that young children learn best by doing and it requires active thinking and experimenting to find out how things work and about the world in which we live.
“We are always interested in projects that allow the children in our communities to grow and excel through a variety of learning opportunities,” says Julie Bauer, Executive Director-Alliant Energy Foundation. “The playground will be part of the Albert Lea community Blue Zone initiative and this project will allow for a vegetable garden at the site.”
The Alliant Energy Foundation is an independent, non-profit philanthropic corporation funded by Alliant Energy shareowners. Since its start in 1998, the Alliant Energy Foundation has contributed more than $29 million to projects and organizations through a variety of programs and worthwhile initiatives.
The Alliant Energy Foundation is committed to helping to improve the quality of life – now and in the future in the communities where Alliant Energy has a presence. The Foundation supports health and human service programs, education endeavors, civic activities, cultural and arts initiatives and environmental efforts.
