CLINTON, IOWA – June 6, 2014 – RAIL.ONE USA’s new 37,800 square foot production facility in Clinton, Iowa is putting energy efficiency to work from day one.
The company recently completed construction of a new concrete rail tie production facility. The facility includes several energy efficiency projects, including installation of an energy efficient heating system, hot water heater, boiler, insulation and windows. The company expects the new energy efficiency equipment to reduce energy usage and increase cost savings.
“Our new production facility will utilize the latest in energy efficiency equipment to reduce our energy costs,” said Larry Huinker, RAIL.ONE USA plant manager. “Through our partnership with Alliant Energy, we were able to complete several projects that will benefit our customers and our company by providing energy and cost savings.”
The projects were completed under Alliant Energy’s New Construction and Custom Rebate energy programs. RAIL.ONE USA expects to achieve annual energy savings of more than 11,200 therms per year. The energy savings will result in avoiding approximately 60 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions each year. This is equivalent to removing approximately 12 passenger vehicles from Iowa roadways or the amount of carbon dioxide sequestered by nearly 50 acres of forest in the United States.
In addition to the anticipated energy savings, the company received an $11,007 rebate for the projects.
“RAIL.ONE is recognized as a world leader in the manufacturing of concrete rail ties and this facility is one of the most modern and energy efficient facilities in the industry,” said Nancy Snaadt, Alliant Energy key account manager. “We are proud to partner with the company on these projects and will look forward to working with them as their energy partner.”
