Beloit-Janesville non-profits receive support from Alliant Energy and its Foundation

Grants, year-end giving total more than $8,000 for area groups

MADISON, Wis. – January 13, 2014 – In December 2013, non-profits in the Beloit-Janesville area received community grants and other support totaling $8,150 from Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation.

Grants made through the Foundation’s Community Grant Program in the central region of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin service area went to:

  • Beloit Regional Hospice, $2,000 to support its Transitions Program;
  • Southern Wisconsin Emergency Preparedness Team, Janesville, $1,000 for feeding and hydrating First Responders on-scene during a disaster, emergency or time of need;
  • Riverfront Activity Center, Janesville, $1,000 to purchase adaptive, ergonomic chairs for participants in its job skills training, employment and supportive services for individual with disabilities;
  • Friends at the Beloit Public Library, $900 to help buy LeapPads for the children’s department;
  • Kids, Fun and Drama, Beloit, $500 for student scholarships;
  • Beloit International Film Festival, $500 for its Wisconsin-Illinois Filmmaker Showcase;
  • Friends of the Welty Environmental Center, Beloit, $500 for elementary school outreach;
  • Caritas, Beloit, $500 to help its food pantry expansion; and
  • The Salvation Army, Beloit, $500 for bus tokens to increase access to services within Rock County for individuals living in Beloit and surrounding areas.

In addition, Alliant Energy giving in December 2013 supported the Toys for Kids Ride and Beloit Regional Hospice.
