Sheboygan County non-profits get support from Alliant Energy and its Foundation

Grants, year-end giving total more than $7,500 for area groups

MADISON, Wis. – January 13, 2014 – In December 2013, non-profits in Sheboygan County received community grants and other support totaling $7,586 from Alliant Energy and the Alliant Energy Foundation.

Grants made through the Foundation’s Community Grant Program in the northeast region of Alliant Energy’s Wisconsin service area went to:

  • The Sheboygan Falls School District, $2,210 to support its high school robotics program;
  • The Sheboygan Firefighters Charitable Trust, $1,500 to help fund a fire engine and station exhibit at Above and Beyond Children's Museum;
  • Family Resource Centers of Sheboygan County, $1,000 for The Parents as Teachers (PAT) Home Visitation program; 
  • Boys and Girls Clubs of Sheboygan County, $1,000 to support the Academic Excellence Initiative; and
  • The Sheboygan County Chamber Foundation, $1,000 The Power Lunch and Leadership Education and Development (LEAD) programs.

The grants were made through the Alliant Energy Foundation’s Community Grants Program, which has awarded more than $400,000 in grants during its third-of-three grant cycles in 2013. More than $1 million was provided to non-profit organizations across the Alliant Energy service area in 2013. The Foundation awards community grants to specific projects benefiting the community in the areas of arts, education, environment, and human and civic needs.

In addition, Alliant Energy giving at the end of 2013 helped support the Salvation Army food pantry, the City of Sheboygan Falls and Early Bird Rotary.
